Residence Permit Eligibility Checker
Answer 5 quick questions to find out whether you are likely to qualify for a Turkish residence permit (ikamet).
Step 1 of 5
What type of residence permit do you need?
Different permit types have different requirements. Choose the one that best fits your situation.
Are you currently in Turkey?
Your current visa status affects how and when you can apply for a residence permit.
Do you have accommodation in Turkey?
You must provide a registered Turkish address when applying for a residence permit.
Do you have health insurance valid in Turkey?
Turkish health insurance is mandatory for all residence permit applications. It must cover the full duration of your permit.
Have you had any immigration issues in Turkey?
Previous refusals or deportation orders can affect your eligibility.
Have you been living in Turkey continuously for at least 8 years?
Long-term residence permits require at least 8 uninterrupted years of legal residence. Short trips abroad are fine, but extended absences may reset the clock.
What residency status have you held during your stay in Turkey?
The type of permit you have held matters. Time spent on a tourist visa without a residence permit does not count towards the 8-year requirement.
Have you received any social assistance from the Turkish government in the last 3 years?
Applicants for long-term residence must not have relied on state social assistance within the past 3 years. This includes welfare payments, housing aid or similar government support.
Can you prove a stable and sufficient income?
You must demonstrate that you can support yourself financially without relying on others. This can be through employment, business income, pension, savings or investments.
