Services

Get your address registered without the runaround

Every foreigner with a residence permit in Turkey is legally required to register their address with the civil registration office (Nufus Mudurlugu). The process involves three separate parties: the muhtar (your neighbourhood official), your landlord and the Nufus office itself. Each has its own requirements, and the rules can vary from one district to another. If your landlord is uncooperative, your neighbourhood is closed to new foreign registrations or your documents are not in order, the whole process can stall. Our address registration guide explains the theory, but the practical reality on the ground is often more complicated.

Our address registration service takes the confusion out of the process. We verify that your neighbourhood accepts foreign registrations before you sign a lease, coordinate with your landlord for the documents they need to provide, accompany you to the muhtar and the Nufus office, and follow up until your confirmation receipt is issued. Whether you are registering for the first time after receiving your ikamet, or updating your address after moving to a new property, we handle every step so you do not have to navigate the bureaucracy alone.

How It Works

How it works

We break the address registration process into five clear steps. Here is what happens once you get in touch.

Address Verification
Document Preparation
Muhtar Visit
Nufus Registration
Confirmation Receipt

1. Address Verification

Before anything else, we check that your neighbourhood (mahalle) is open to new foreign registrations. Some areas in popular cities have reached their quota and will not accept new applications. If you have not yet signed a lease, we can advise on which districts are available. If you are already living somewhere, we confirm that your address qualifies and flag any issues early. This step saves you from discovering problems halfway through the process.

2. Document Preparation

We compile everything you and your landlord need to provide. For you, that typically means your passport, residence permit, biometric photos and a copy of your rental contract. Your landlord will need to supply their Turkish ID (kimlik), the property title deed (tapu) and a signed rental agreement. If any documents need certified translation, we arrange that too. We check every document against the current requirements for your specific Nufus office, because the list can differ between districts.

3. Muhtar Visit

The muhtar is an elected neighbourhood official who must verify that you genuinely live at the address you are registering. We schedule an appointment at your local muhtar office, accompany you to the visit and handle the conversation in Turkish. The muhtar will check your identity, confirm you are living at the stated address and stamp a verification form (muhtarlik belgesi). This stamped document is essential for the next step.

4. Nufus Registration

With the muhtar form in hand, we take you to the Nufus Mudurlugu (civil registration office) to submit your application. We present your documents, ensure the officer has everything they need and deal with any questions on the spot. The Nufus office enters your address into the national system and your registration is linked to your residence permit. If you later need to exchange your driving licence or open a bank account, this registered address is what they will reference.

5. Confirmation Receipt

Once the Nufus office processes your application, they issue a confirmation document (yerlesim yeri belgesi) proving your address is registered. Processing typically takes 2 to 4 working days. We follow up with the office until the confirmation is ready, collect it on your behalf if needed and send you a copy. This document is your proof of address for all official purposes in Turkey.
