Buying a Car in Turkey

Step 1: Consultation

We start with a conversation about what you need. Budget, vehicle type, fuel preference, automatic or manual, age range, mileage limits. We also explain the full process, typical costs, and what to watch out for in the Turkish used car market. If you already have a specific car in mind, we skip straight to the inspection stage.

Step 2: Car search assistance

We search Turkish listing platforms and local dealer networks on your behalf. We shortlist vehicles that match your criteria, check the listing details for red flags, and arrange viewings. If you prefer to browse yourself, we are happy to review any listings you find and advise on whether they are worth pursuing. For new cars, we can accompany you to authorised dealerships and help with price negotiations.

Step 3: Ekspertiz arrangement

Once you have found a car you like, we book an appointment at a licensed ekspertiz centre. The inspection covers paint thickness measurements across every panel (to detect previous accident repairs), engine and transmission diagnostics, brake and suspension checks, chassis and frame integrity, and an overall condition assessment. The full report takes about 45 minutes to an hour. We explain the results to you in plain language and advise on whether to proceed. Step 4: Debt check (Haciz Sorgu)

Before any money changes hands, we run a haciz sorgu (debt/lien check) on the vehicle. This confirms whether there are any outstanding traffic fines, unpaid taxes, bank liens, or court orders registered against the car. If the car has debts attached to it, those debts transfer to you when you buy it. This check protects you from inheriting someone else's financial problems. We can also verify the vehicle's accident history through the Tramer system.

Step 5: Notary transfer accompaniment

The ownership transfer happens at a Turkish noter (notary). Both buyer and seller must be present with their identification documents. We accompany you, handle the communication with the notary clerk, make sure all the paperwork is correct, and translate everything in real time. The transfer itself takes about an hour. You walk out with the ruhsat (registration document) in your name. If you do not yet have a Turkish bank account or tax number, we can help arrange those beforehand.

Step 6: Insurance and registration

Immediately after the notary transfer, we arrange your compulsory trafik sigortasi (third-party traffic insurance). Without it, you cannot legally drive. If you want kasko (comprehensive cover), we get quotes from multiple providers and help you choose the right policy.
